This room is a basement room that was being used as a storage space by the previous occupants. There is an unfinished storage area in the basement so my mom wanted to use this as a rec room. I was given artistic liberty but had to work around the old sectional sofa (and it’s old, it was a hand-me-down in the 80s).
If you have read anything here, you know that I love mid-century modern everything, and with the old sofa, there was no hesitation to run with it.
The paint color I used is “Smoky White” by Behr in a satin finish. The existing paint was flat, and despite the fancy before picture making it look like a bright room, it was pretty dark. The light color and satin finish really brightened it up in there.
I bought the TV stand from Baxton Studio. The coffee table, wall shelves, and plant stand came from Amazon. The bar cabinet came from Walmart, as did the pillows and throw blanket. The accent chair came from Ashley Furniture, and the accent lamp came from Target. Wayfair supplied the light fixtures. The wall collage photos were a set from Ikea. Lots of different vendors, but I am very frugal and try to find decent things for as low as possible. I did pretty well sticking to that with this one, the accent chair was the only real splurge at $230. It swivels though, so totally worth it.
